We'll Gather Lilacs- The Novello Years

An afternoon’s summer entertainment with songs from the glorious Musical Theatre work of IVOR NOVELLO.

Highlights from such shows as “The Dancing Years”, “Glamourous Night”, “Careless Rapture”, “Perchance to Dream” and “King’s Rhapsody” take us back to London’s West End years 1935-1950, when Ivor Novello was the English King of Musical Comedy. His most famous songs include “We’ll Gather Lilacs”, “Keep the Home Fires Burning”, “My Dearest Dear”, “Someday my Heart will Awake”, “Waltz of my Heart” and “I Can Give You the Starlight”.

Ivor Novello and several of his songs were featured in the recent movie “Gosford Park”. Wander the English garden in Melbourne’s leafy Dandenong Ranges with a complimentary glass of champagne before the performance.

CAST: Lynlee Williams, Peter Mander, Judy Sporton, Maryanne Bird, Nadia Migliardi, Torquil Syme, and Alfred Anderson.

Performances: February 25-26 at 3pm; March 4-5 at 3pm at “The Knowe” 4 Clarkmont Road, Sassafras (Melways 66 D12). Adults: $30 Concession: $25 Only 40 seats per show - general admission. Garden opens from 2:00pm for each performance.
