Dear Friends,

In light of covid-19 and government restrictions, it is with a heavy heart that we are suspending part of our 2020 season.

Our May production “The Gondoliers” which was already a month into rehearsals, will now be staged in 2021. We are hopeful that “The Yeomen of the Guard” (September) and the return season of “Sir Arthur & Friends” (November) at the Malvern Theatre may still go ahead, but these are looking more and more doubtful as the days pass.

We would like to thank the countless people, production teams and cast members who have contributed hours of hard work and dedication to our season thus far. Although we are deeply saddened by the postponement of our season, the health and wellbeing of our community is our first priority.

Many of you will have purchased Subscription tickets to our remaining productions. We will be in contact with ticket holders in the coming days to discuss available options.

The Committee has also decided that current Memberships will be carried over to next year.

The next few months will be uncertain for everyone, as such the timeline for when the Gilbert & Sullivan Society as Gilbert & Sullivan Opera Victoria will resume business will be confirmed upon changes to health recommendations and government directives. We will continue to monitor the situation and reveal our full 2021 season when time permits.

We know that for many people in our community the arts play a critical role, particularly in times of great uncertainty. We remain committed to presenting the works of Gilbert & Sullivan and other composers and writers of light operative entertainment. Stay in touch with us on facebook/instagram, and subscribe to our emails.

We are very grateful for your support and understanding and we look forward to seeing you at the theatre again soon.

Best wishes,
The Gilbert & Sullivan Society Committee
