For GSOV’s first venture into the world of Broadway Musicals, we have picked “My Fair Lady”, the best musical ever written. The story concerns Eliza Doolittle, a Cockney flower girl who takes speech lessons from Professor Henry Higgins, as she “wants to be a lady in a flower shop. ‘Stead of selling flowers on the corner of Tottenham Court Road”.

A masterpiece of elegant wit, superb characters, and the most enchanting musical score conceivable. The many hits include: “I could have danced all night”, “On the Street where you Live”, “Wouldn’t it be Luverly”, “The Rain in Spain” and “Get Me to the Church on Time”.

“My Fair Lady” has been an enormous hit from its first production in New York in 1956 with a celebrated movie following in 1964. It has been constantly revived around the world ever since, including by our own Opera Australia with their 2016 production breaking all Sydney Opera House records.

Our lavish new production is based on the recent 2018 New York Lincoln Centre Revival: it’s the show everyone loves, but with new insights and nuances.

Performed by a superbly talented cast with full Chorus and Orchestra, our production will be Directed & Choreographed by internationally award-winning Director & Choreographer ROBERT RAY, and the Musical Direction by TIMOTHY JOHN WILSON.
