The Pirates of Penzance 2023 – Auditions
Directed by Ron Pidcock OAM and Musical Direction by Trevor Henley.
Auditions are called for all Principal roles, as well as for Ensemble members, and will take place on 2nd and 4th May from 6:30pm at SPAAC.
Prospective Ensemble members who have worked with either Ron or Trevor before, DO NOT need to audition, but must submit an expression of interest message to the auditions email address.
Please read through the Rehearsal Schedule Document, which sets out all the proposed rehearsals as well as performances either side of the main Alexander Theatre season. Performances are planned for Inglewood, Alexander Theatre, Corinella, and Wonthaggi. State any unavailability in your application.
The Audition Pieces Document sets out the expected Music and Dialogue for each Principal Role. Pirates Vocal Scores will be available at the audition. Ensemble auditionees can sing any prepared music that demonstrates their singing, but you must bring copies of your music for our accompanist to play. No pre-recorded accompaniment.
Physical Vocal Scores can be borrowed from GSOV at the first rehearsal, however there are very good resources available on the G+S Archive website, including background information about The Pirates of Penzance, links to downloadable Vocal Scores suitable for Audition Preparation (This particular edition is useful for audition pieces. Chappell version is preferred for rehearsals), and Libretto.
